5 Hour Energy
5 Hour Energy introduced the concept of an energy "shot" to me. When I first saw them, I didn't think they counted as an energy drink! I refused to count them among my collection. Sooner or later, I accepted them, and 5 Hour Energy continues to have a strong presence.

Berry
Size: 2oz bottle
Location Acquired: GNC, Oakdale Mall, Vestal, NY
Location in Collection: The Shots
Taste Rating: 4/10
Energy Rating: 6/10
Review:
The seminal original flavor, Berry 5 Hour Energy has gone on to become the most imitated flavor among energy shots. I'm not so sure it deserves it. A relatively sweet (albeit sugar-free) base flavor is mauled by an attack of vitamin bitterness until it is left as nothing more than a bad aftertaste. Energy is a quick rise, then a slow decline.

Decaf Citrus
Size: 2oz bottle
Location Acquired: Pump 'n' Pantry, Nicholson, PA
Location in Collection: The Shots
Taste Rating: 3/10
Energy Rating: 3/10
Review:
I'm not sure who came up with the oxymoronic concept of a decaf energy shot, but they're an idiot. Also, energy shots should NEVER be citrus flavored. It's terrible. Tastes like rotten lemonade, and no real energy to speak of other than a slight niacin rush.

Extra Strength
Size: 2oz bottle
Location Acquired: GNC, Oakdale Mall, Johnson City, NY
Location in Collection: The Shots
Taste Rating: 3/10
Energy Rating: 5/10
Review:
I'm not sure what makes this extra strength, as they didn't add any more caffeine. Energy drink fanatics know that everything besides caffeine is just quackery and gimicks. Nothing else provides energy. The flavor is berry, and is the same as the original. No more energy than the original.

Grape
Size: 2oz bottle
Location Acquired: McLanahan's, State College, PA
Location in Collection: The Roomies
Taste Rating: 6/10
Energy Rating: 4/10
Review:
Grape energy shots are pretty hard to screw up. For a shot, this tastes ok. Energy is the usual slight boost then slow decline.

Lemon-Lime
Size: 2oz bottle
Location Acquired: Pump 'n' Pantry, Nicholson, PA
Location in Collection: The Shots
Taste Rating: 2/10
Energy Rating: 4/10
Review:
This tastes terrible. When will companies learn that citrus and energy shot do not mix? This tasted like rancid Mr. Clean, and smelled like urine. Energy is the usual.

Orange
Size: 2oz bottle
Location Acquired: Pump 'n' Pantry, Nicholson, PA
Location in Collection: The Shots
Taste Rating: 3/10
Energy Rating: 4/10
Review:
Again, citrus flavor = bad. Not as bad as the Lemon-Lime, but still bad. Energy is the usual.

Pomegranate
Size: 2oz bottle
Location Acquired: Walmart, State College, PA
Location in Collection: The Roomies
Taste Rating: 8/10
Energy Rating: 4/10
Review:
This tastes almost good enough to be an actual drink, rather than a shot! I really enjoyed this flavor. Sweet despite the lack of sugar, real pomegranate flavor, and no aftertaste. The first truly good flavor this brand makes. Energy is the usual.
